The Truth Behind the “Black Women Can’t Grow Long Hair” Myth

Inside: If you’ve ever heard or believed that black women can’t grow their hair long, learn the truth plus some tips to help you grow your hair longer.

Have you ever heard that, “black women can’t grow long hair”?

It seems as though anytime a (Black) woman has hair that reaches past her shoulder blades, the question of her race and/or whether or not the hair is “all hers” comes up.

I’m sure you’ve heard, and maybe even said, before…

Back when I used to do hair, a lot of women would say to me,

“Cherie, my hair just doesn’t grow!”

And I’d reply…

“Umm, yes it does! If it wasn’t, you wouldn’t need to see me every 4-6 weeks for a touch-up!”

I’d then go on to explain… [Read more…] about The Truth Behind the “Black Women Can’t Grow Long Hair” Myth

Blessings & Warmest Regards,

Are my Bradelocz going to get thick?

Some people are afraid to get Bradelocz because they see the present thickness of mine. They don’t necessarily want thick locks and so when they see how mine started out thin and are now thick, they tend to think that Bradelocz, period, get thicker overtime.

Not true! You’ll see in the video what happened and why my locs are now thicker than when I first began 8 years ago…

Loc Styling Tip: The Loc Twist-Out

A few days or so ago, I put 2-strand twists in my hair.

I wanted to show that locs are versatile and styles you wear with your loose hair can be worn with locked hair.

And now I want to showcase the second part of the 2-strand twist style… the twist-out.

The following video shows the result…

Loc Styling Tip: Two-Strand Twisted Locs

Who says getting locs has to mean the END of versatility?

It’s most certainly not because many of the styles you can do with loose hair, can also be done on locked hair… especially when you have thinner-sized locs such as Bradelocz!

One such style is two strand twists.

The nice thing about two-strand twisting your locs is that you get two styles in one: the twists themselves and, later on once you decide to take them down, the twist-out!

How To Two-Strand Twist Your Locs

This style is very simple and basic. Simply twist two locs together and, if need be, secure the ends with an inconspicuously-colored band, loc-cuff, or both.

The following (old, 2009) video demonstrates me twisting my locs together.
